The borough of Scottdale will celebrate its sesquicentennial in 2024 with celebrations happening all year long with an official kick-off at the Scottdale Fall Festival, September 15-17, 2023.
The Scottdale 150th Anniversary Committee, under the direction of the Scottdale Historical Society, hosted a logo design contest sponsored by Lindy House, Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, to commemorate the upcoming anniversary.
The logo contest was open to anyone who has a connection to Scottdale. There were 16 logo submissions on display during the Mardi Gras fundraiser dinner for anonymous public vote. The top submissions were then voted on by the Scottdale Historical Society board members for an overall winner. The official logo was unveiled at the May “Let’s Talk Scottdale” event held at the Geyer Performing Arts Center. The artists who designed logos were invited to attend this event and the top three logos were presented with their prizes by Lindy House, Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services and contest sponsor.
“Lindy’s idea to chair and sponsor the logo design contest to engage involvement with the community for the 150th Anniversary is very much appreciated. Having the community vote for their favorites at the Mardi Gras event was a great idea and we look forward to incorporating it around Scottdale.”, Tom Zwierzelewski, Historical Society President and 150th Anniversary Committee Chairperson.
While the official kick-off of Scottdale’s 150th Anniversary begins September 2023, events and activities are already starting to happen around town!
