Scottdale celebrated our 75th Anniversary in 1949. The entire town was decorated with red white and blue banners and anniversary signage.
The familiar buildings on the right, offer great memories of Ecks Restaurant, Loucks Hardware and Hoffman's Drug Store. The buildings on the right housed the Hill House, Scottdale Bank, and Murphys furniture.
Everything a family needed was here: Retail Shops, Druggists, Restaurants, auto dealerships, specialty food and grocery stores, bowling, and movies, and banks to maintain economic needs of the town. Small town America was never the thought in 1949. Pittsburgh street was the hub of activity. On Friday and Saturday nights you would have to walk on the street to move along the way because of the crowds taking 20 minutes to walk the two block stretch.
