The Hill House

This photo shows one of Scottdale's hotels, the Hill House in the early 1900's.

In those days traveling required a lot of time. Trains, streetcars, horse and buggy as well as the early automobiles made a simple 50 mile trip become an all day task. Travelers would require overnight accommodations' for what we consider an afternoon drive today.

This building was also known for it's ice cream shop during the 1950's.

The Hill House was located on the North side of Pittsburgh Street in the area of today's Scottdale savings and Trust parking lot.

Please share your stories or other memorabilia of the Hill House with the Scottdale Historical Society by emailing us.
