Lake Forest

This circa 1966 photo shows Scottdale's favorite swimming spot, Lake Forest. During the 1920's, these picnic grounds, and lake were originally known as Briercheck's.  Over the many decades of summertime fun, the pool was added and the name changed to Lake Forest.  The Tullio family ran the pool at the time of this photo.  The image shows the lake with the high dive and life guard station.  Before being permitted to swim in the lake, the swimmer would have to prove their water skills. The new swimmer would have to dive into the lake, swim to the rope and back without stopping or sinking.  The massive concrete pool was the best spot to enjoy water time fun, while the outer circle of the pool was shallow and known as the kiddie pool.  This image also showcases the bath house, the office and of course the restaurant for the tasty treat and a refreshing beverage.  Area residents have warm and wonderful memories of this popular entertainment location.
