The Scottdale Historical Society is proud to sponsor the following scholarships for graduating high school seniors from Southmoreland High School and Geibel Catholic High School. The following scholorships have been created to honor two supportors of the Scottdale Historical Society. Please visit the following pages to learn about the requirements for the scholarships and who the previous recipients were.
The Jane A. Yuhouse Memorial Scholarship is offering up to a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating Southmoreland High School Senior(s) who shares similar interests and values as Jane, and who is continuing their education in the Culinary Arts, Environmental Sciences (conservation, park services, parks and recreation, etc.), Social Sciences (geographical studies) or Health and Human Service (social work, child development, etc.) fields. Applicants must have a 3.0 overall GPA. Applicants must submit a completed application, letters of reference, a copy of their acceptance letter from the college/university they will be attending, current school transcript, a current photo and a one page essay. Completed applications should be returned into the Guidance Office.

The Scottdale Historical Society along with the Eckman family and friends established the Paul E. Eckman Memorial Scholarship in 2016. Scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors from either Southmoreland or Geibel High Schools who demonstrated Paul's values: service to the community, interest in local history, a strong work ethic and maximizing educational opportunities.
The Paul E. Eckman Scholarship is no longer offered. Congratulations to past winners Michael Conroy and Charles Echard.
