The Scottdale Historical Society, in conjunction with Robert Levin, president of Levin Furniture, is pleased to announce that Stephanie Wells, graduating senior from Southmoreland High School, is the recipient of the 2015 Jane A. Yuhouse Memorial Scholarship.  Ms. Stephanie Wells received the $1,000 Scholarship at Southmoreland’s Class Day on Thursday, May 28, 2015.

The Jane A. Yuhouse Memorial Scholarship is available to a graduating Southmoreland High School Senior who has intentions in majoring in Culinary Arts, Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences or Health and Human Service fields, has a proven academic record and volunteers their time with community organizations.

Ms. Wells’ academic successes include being a member of the National Honor Society, French National Honor Society, GEMS, Scholar Athlete, Quiz Team, theatre, color guard, chorus, science club and others.    Stephanie is involved with community events and programs, such as Outdoor Odyssey Leadership Academy, Make-A-Difference Club, Buddy Day at Twin Lakes, Walk Now for Autism Speaks and more.  Her academic achievements, involvement in community organizations and career goals after graduation make Stephanie an exceptional candidate to receive the 2015 Jane A. Yuhouse Memorial Scholarship.

Ms. Wells plans to attend Duquesne University to pursue a degree in Speech Language Pathology so she can help others overcome communication obstacles like she did as a child.

The Jane A. Yuhouse Memorial Scholarship was established in 2014 by the Scottdale Historical Society thanks to the support of Levin Furniture and the Howard Levin Memorial Fund, to honor a loving wife, mother and friend who had a passion for baking, traveling and supporting non-profit organizations like the Scottdale Historical Society.
