The Scottdale Historical Society, in conjunction with Robert Levin (Levin Furniture), are pleased to announce the recipient of the 2018 Jane A. Yuhouse Memorial Scholarship to graduating Southmoreland High School seniors Hayley Robbins of Connellsville, PA. Ms. Robbins received a $1000 scholarship during the Class Day festivities at Southmoreland High School on Friday, May 25, 2018.
The Jane A. Yuhouse Memorial Scholarship is available to a graduating Southmoreland High School Senior who has intentions in majoring in Culinary Arts, Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences or Health and Human Service fields, has a proven academic record and volunteers their time with community organizations.
Ms. Robbins’ academic and extracurricular successes include being a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Scholar Athlete, Student of the Month, Show Choir, Youth Education Association secretary, captain of the girls’ Tennis Team and others. Hayley is involved with community events and programs, such as church activities and mission trips, Buddy Day, Autism Walk, Fall Festival and more. Her academic achievements, involvement in community organizations and career goals after graduation make Hayley an exceptional candidate to receive the 2018 Jane A. Yuhouse Memorial Scholarship.
Ms. Robbins plans to attend Chatham University to pursue a degree in Psychology and Occupational Therapy with a goal to work at a children’s hospital or educational institution where she can help children.
