The Kromer House

Here is a circa 1905 view of the Kromer House.  The Kromer house was one of six hotels in Scottdale built by N. Kromer in the 1890's. Today we would have to take a moment to picture this location.  The plantings in the rotunda were located near the area where the Sheetz gas pumps are today.  You are looking east and the building to the left is now  Davis Barber shop.  To the right of the Kromer House you can see the building that housed the Webb Restaurant and Café. In the back ground you can see the structures of the Pipe mill and Corrigan furnace.    During the 1950's the Kromer House was purchased by Pasquale Gismondi who ran P.G. Distributors on the main level, and rented many apartments on the upper floors.  Pasguale retired in 1963 and the family moved to Everson.

The Historical society is looking for more information on these buildings. History of other owners, business, when and how the buildings were lost.  Please submit information to louckshouse527@gmail.com.
